Throw kindness around like confetti.

Jan 6 memory

So I needed to go to Capitol Hill today to pick up my volunteer T-shirt for the National Book Festival on Saturday. It didn’t hit me until I walked the halls of the Library of Congress Madison building and then visited the post office connected to the underground tunnels to the Capitol that this was the first time I had been in the place where our democracy was threatened back on Jan 6, 2021. I had a brief, almost tearful conversation, with a couple of the Capitol Police officers as I told them how sacred this space was to me and thanked them for protecting it so bravely. In usual heroic form, they thanked me for thanking them.
