Rhapsody in Blue
24/03/2009
I enjoyed seeing Robert Wyatt (pianist, lecturer, scholar) at the Freer Gallery last week as he gave a lecture about George & Ira Gershwin. It was really fun to see someone deliver a lecture that was so excited about his subject. I mean, the guy started talking before 7 PM and was still going strong about 9:30 PM. It made we want to go home, download a bunch of Gershwin on my iPod and just close my eyes and dream….
I enjoyed the evening so much that I joined the Smithsonian Associates to, hopefully, partake of their lecture series in the coming months.

The combination of Gershwin, the entry title and the picture makes me ask if you’ve ever seen what Disney did with Rhapsody in Blue in Fantasia 2000? If you like Hirschfeld at all, it’s genius (as is the Genie in Aladdin).
Ah yes…Fantasia! WONDERFUL!
